Gallery 4 - Thüringen, Germany
This past summer we headed back to my birth place in Thüringen, Germany - formerly part of East Germany.
Our family left Ronneburg in 1953 and yet the towns' people still remembered where we had lived. The town hall had our family records back into the 18th century and the local church clock previously looked after by many generation of Schnell's was still running.
The food was exceptiional - wonderful pork roast wih gravy and potatoe dumplings - something to almost die for!
We also visited the surounding towns of Gera, Jena and Altebourg. We ended our visit with several days in Leipzig. This is a special area of Germany, seldom visited, but well worth considering.
